First, and most importantly, you should read the WhatIsABC section to familiarise yourself with our novel approach to computing as well as the concrete aspects of the ABC User Interface.
To install you need Internet Explorer as you default browser (you can switch back to your preferred browser after installation). The installer will automatically check for prerequisites, so all you need to do is click here to start it.
There are two main parts of the ABC Framework to think about when installing and testing ABC.
The ABC client can be run in two modes:
It can be run as a single ABC Client. If run this way, the ABC Client itself will act as its own ABC Server. Running ABC in this mode is fine for trying out its user interface but it does not really make use of its collaborative features. It can be run in Client-Server mode where the ABC Server provides ABC services, like collaborative features, to an, in theory, infinite number of ABC clients. Running ABC in this mode, you may test out all the features of ABC. The server is currently available for download, please contact jbp if you wish to try it out.
